  • Pamela Absher

Pamela‘s journey to Pilates came via dance, yoga, snowboarding and sailboat racing. She launched her performing career with Children’s Ballet Theater of Newport Beach and her professional coaching career teaching swimming, sailing and windsurfing. She continued training elite competitive junior sailors through college while achieving All-American recognition for 3 years racing on the Nationally ranked Tulane University sailing team.

Her eye for fine details and improvisational skills were developed in the dozen years she served as dance captain for her fellow cast members of “A Tap Dance Christmas Carol.” She regularly coached youth and adult tappers to prepare them for stage.
After decades of hard playing she adopted a more balanced movement practice incorporating the deep inner resilience that comes from regular Pilates training. She thinks reformer repertoire is especially nourishing and helps build the strength and stamina for the transformative mat work.

A lifelong love of Maui led her to choose a yoga teacher training program in Ha’ikū. The opportunity to teach quickly followed and Pam and her husband David moved from Seattle. Eventually they escaped the lush confines of the north shore and now they warm their bones close to FMM where you can find them cardio jumping twice a week. Please come and join the fun!
